Time to make your paint!
*Note for best results: create your “wine paint” the night before.
Open your dried wine pouch and pour the contents into the marked plastic container marked – “Dried Cabernet Franc“.
Using the provided bottle, fill the second container half full, marked “Cabernet Franc“.
Slowly add wine to the dried contents until you have a thick consistency as shown in the right image.
*I use a small spoon to carry wine over from the other container.
Let both containers sit in your fridge over night.
You will go back and forth with these 2 containers throughout the painting process.
If you need to add more wine to the mixture just take it from the second container.
*That means you won’t have to use any more wine for painting!

Before you paint do some testing...
Take out your test sheet of art paper and create 2 swatches of your wine.
1. Wine 2. Wine Mix
Next try the 2 techniques below, and familiarize yourself with the wine by making swirls and patterns.
…..a new way of familiarizing yourself with wine. (*wink)

On your test art paper try these 2 techniques
The Wet on Dry technique is helpful when achieving detail and outlining.
When I paint with wine I usually start with the outline using the wet on dry technique. This is also a step that I have to do over and over again in order to get those darker shades of wine.
The Wet on Wet technique is helpful when blending the wines or adding a soft background.
Try this with both the wine and the wine mix to see the difference in colours and shades.
